Plumas Lake is a master-planned exurb covering 8.4 square miles located 40 miles north of Sacramento on the Feather River.This area is unincorporated as a city.Construction of homes in Plumas Lake began in 2003.At full build-out the city will have 12,000 homes and approximately 36,000 residents.As of 2010 the population of Plumas Lake was currently compromised of 1,745 households of which over 80% were owner occupied.

Activities in Plumas Lake

Right next door to the community of Plumas Lake is the semi-private Plumas Lake golf course.This 18-hole course is rated as one of the top 100 golf courses in America.Throughout the Plumas Lake communities there are several neighborhood parks for residents to enjoy.The local elementary schools host community events such as blood drives and town hall meetings.

Working in Plumas Lake

Currently Plumas Lake is almost exclusively residential dwellings so most residents commute to work.To assist with this a Park & Ride facility opened in October 2009. Plumas Lake is conveniently located on the highway 70 corridor and is less than an hour commute to the larger employment areas of Roseville and Sacramento. Employment in Plumas Lake is currently limited to working at one of the three local schools or the Walgreens store and pharmacy that opened in 2009.
